How Does IR Distribution Work?

#1 Determine the appropriate type of IR Target for your installation.  The Keystone style pictured above is good if you want the IR in a plate on the wall or ceiling.  The Plasma Proof target is designed for use on the top of or to the side of your TV and the panel mount is ideal if all your equipment is behind a cabinet.  The IR Target encodes the infrared signal so it can travel over the Category 5E cable.
#2 Run your Category 5E cable from your IR Target to your IR hub.
#3 Your IR Hub will require power so position that where access to power is simple.  Your IR Hub will have either 4 or 8 outputs.  These connect to the IR Emitters.  You need one port for each device you want remotely controlled.
#4 Connect your IR Emitter on to the device you need controlled remotely.  You can use double stick tape which is provided or a dot of super glue to insure continued operation. The emitter is placed over the IR sensor of the equipment.  The emitter can be either directly connected to the IR Hub or it can be lengthened over a Category 5E cable as well.
